On June 9 and 10, 2024, the 34th seminar (the 13th seminar of developing young scholars) was held at Samarkand Archaeological Institute of the Republic of Uzbekistan. It was held in conjunction with “Exchange program in Uzbekistan for knowledge transfer related to scientific research of archaeological heritage” by the Nara National Research Institute for Cultural Properties outsourced by the Agency for Cultural Affairs. The first day of the seminar held a lecture on “Survey of the Impression on Pottery Using Replica Casting Method” conducted by Dr. Yuka Sasaki, which had a lively discussion. The second day of the practical training consisted of making seed impression replica using test pieces, and practical replica taking from excavated pottery. The participants include 18 young researchers and students, who come from not only Samarkand but also other cities, such as Tashkent and Namangan. As the presented method has not yet been practiced in Uzbekistan, the participants listened intently and moved their hands with great interest.
